Abstract
Negative stereotypes about metal music often lead people to view it with suspicion and fear, despite the fact that this genre is a complex and rich form of artistic expression. Beneath its dark image, metal music often addresses social, personal, and even philosophical issues, reflecting the depth and diversity of perspectives among its musicians. In Indonesia, metalheads the activists within the metal music scene continue to thrive despite negative perceptions. The social practices within the metal scene rely on a community where members actively participate and contribute. Musicians, creative industry players, and dedicated fans gather through concerts, festivals, and regular meetings. In Indonesia, the term "scene" is frequently used by musicians and music lovers to refer to the social space centered around a particular genre. This scene encompasses all aspects of the community, from performances and collaborations to the discussions among its members. The social practices within the metal scene involve the interconnectedness of musicians, fans, and the broader music ecosystem. This interaction creates a network that sustains and enhances the musical experience. The scene provides a space where individuals compete for, exchange, and accumulate cultural capital, generating both economic and symbolic benefits for artists and fans alike.
